During this course, students will attend sessions at the university lecture hall where a range of scholars, experts and officials in education sectors in China will present their expertise insights on issues that are of crucial importance to education in different stages in China. Great educators of different schools in ancient China with their traditional educational philosophies will be introduced from different topical views; influential figures with their educational ideas during the new cultural movement (late 19th to early 20th century) will be discussed and socialist educational thoughts with Chinese characteristics will be elaborated. Lectures will be delivered in English and Chinese with the hope that students learn not only the ideas but also the special terms in English so that they can communicate properly in cross-cultural settings.
