Introduction to Tourism is a 2-credit compulsory course that aims to provide students with a body of basic knowledge in the field of travel and tourism. In simple terms, it looks at how tourism is developed, organized, run and managed through such topics as travel demands, attractions, tourist destinations, tourism industries and tourism impacts.
Lecturing will be complemented with case analyses, group discussions and field trips to develop students’ critical thinking and their ability to integrate theory with practice. The course is bilingual, valuing both Chinese and foreign literature and perspectives, in an aim to cultivate compound international tourism talents with a global vision, and theoretical, practical and innovational capacities.
